Should I Use WordPress or Blogger for a Free Blog?

From the Market Motive Forums: Is WordPress or Blogger better for a free blog?

The question that comes up a lot is the value of WordPress vs Blogger. As far as SEO goes, it doesn’t matter. I started with Blogger, moved to WordPress, and I now use a self-hosted version of a WordPress install.

For myself, I’ve always been an advocate of “owning” your own content. If you want to start off without spending any money, both Blogger and WP have nice hosted options. If you go with WP, though, just beware of 3rd party plugins – some of them may break your site.

Here are the three simple steps you’ll need to take to get started successfully:

  1. Get a domain you love (your name is a good start).
  2. Get a decent web host (hostgator.com isn’t bad).
  3. Build out WordPress on your own domain, and own your content.

Keep testing new things, and writing about your experiences with them. You’ll find a platform that’s great for you.

I switched from All-in-One SEO to Yoast’s WordPress SEO plugin as I think it does a better job overall.

fantastic put up, very informative. I ponder why the other experts of this sector do not realize this.
