What's the difference between Self-paced and Coached courses?
When you’re in the Self-paced online marketing course, you’ll set your own schedule and work at your own pace, following a structured online curriculum of streaming videos, pdf workbooks and recommended exercises. You’ll take progress quizzes along the way to ensure you’re retaining the information, and you’ll have to pass a final test before you can download your Certificate of Completion. Faculty support is available through an online forum.
If you take on the challenge of a coached Master Certification Course, you’ll study the same structured curriculum, but follow a strict weekly schedule over 90 days, progressing at the same pace as your fellow students. Plus, you’ll receive personalized faculty guidance, with feedback on your homework exercises during weekly conference calls. Finally, you’ll need to complete a rigorous real-world final project with faculty and peer reviews, and have to pass a dissertation defense to earn a Master Certification.
How long do the courses take?
Great question. The number of video hours vary by course, and you’ll want to watch, pause, and review some videos once or twice. Plus, there are workbooks to review and fill out, and recommended exercises. Add to that the time to take quizzes, and any extra real-world application you want to do to test what you’re learning, and you’ll be pretty busy.
Self-paced members probably spend a total of 25-35 hours to complete a single Certification course. Since they study at their own speed as their schedule allows, how long that takes depends on how many hours you’ve got to dedicate to your studies each day or week. A few members have earned a Certification in a single month. On average, most have busy lives, and take about 10 weeks at 2-3 hours a week. Learn more.
In the 90 Day Coached course, your curriculum is metered out in weekly assignments over the semester. The weekly study time estimate is the same: but you’ll also receive personalized feedback directly from the faculty on your weekly exercises, so there’s a chance you might want to redo some work to apply their insights. Additionally, there are weekly required “live class” conference calls for you and your course-mates to talk directly with your faculty… it’s a great chance to build a rapport with your fellow students, and get direct interaction with instructors. Add to that the final real-world project that makes up the last third of the calendar, and the Coached course is definitely the more time-intensive and challenging (but some say more rewarding) option. If I take a Coached course, can I study other subjects?
Coached students get access to everything. You will choose a “major” to focus on for your coached semester, but you will in fact have access to all the self-paced courses in our system, so you can cross-train to your heart’s content, in sequence or simultaneously.
In fact, your access to the self-paced courses begins immediately, so the earlier you register for your Coached Course, the more extra time you get to take advantage of all the other material.
What is the structure of a Coached course?

Am I just buying a Certification?
In a word, no. Not everybody certifies, not even in the Coached courses. Our courses are challenging even for experienced marketers. Besides, if you could just buy a Certification, it wouldn’t really have any value.
But if you have a desire to learn, take the time to watch the video lessons carefully, take good notes, and rewatch videos when necessary to assure you’re absorbing the materials, you’ll do well. Experienced or not.
Doesn't real experience trump any Certification?
We know Certification is no substitute for years of real-world industry experience. But whether you’re just getting started in online marketing, or you’re already working in the field, Certification can provide valuable professional validation.

What should I look for in a training program?
Many places offer programs and courses, but ultimately you should look to the expertise of the faculty when seeking out your education. When you research online marketing training programs, look for the following things:
Are the teachers visible and active in the industry or have they simply learned the material from other experts?
Does the training program offer comprehensive cross-discipline training in all aspects of online marketing or are they just offering one subject? It is critical at this stage that one studies more than one discipline (e.g. SEO and Conversion Optimization or Social Media, Social Media and Analytics, PPC and Conversion Optimization just to name a few combos).

Are your training courses only offered online?

Is the training current and up-to-date?

Which course should I start with?
We recommend starting with the Fundamentals course. It’s a great primer that will get you familiar with each of the core disciplines.
If you’re already well-versed in one discipline, choose a complementary skill that will enhance your ability to serve your clients and your company.
How can I control video buffering?
Our system does its best to automatically meter the video quality to suit your connection speed at all times.
If you’d like to default your videos to a lower bitrate to accommodate consistently poor connections, enter your profile (top right of your dashboard) and select the low bitrate stream.
On a mobile device, your your player includes an HD / SD selector. Choose SD for poor connections.
Can I have the faculty's direct email?
