Market Motive Congratulates its Latest Graduates

Market Motive announced today its latest list of Master Certification graduates, this time from the Spring 2009 semester of its Master Certification program.  Students completed their final task last week–the live faculty panel review–and received diplomas from what was an arduous 90 days of training, projects, and testing.

Enthusiastic as always, Scott Milrad, Director of Online Education, had some encouraging things to say about the recent class.  “It was another amazing, inspiring group of people.  I’m once again breaming with pride from all our graduates and the work they’ve done.  We do not give out diplomas easily;  these people worked very hard and display an exceptional level of knowledge to earn their endorsements.”

So what’s next?  For the recent graduates, it’s now all about assimilating what they learned in the program into their regular jobs.  “That’s generally the biggest challenge,” explains Milrad. “They have this new set of information;  now it’s time to put it into action.  Fortunately, our curriculum teaches real-world skills, so students come out with the ability to hit the ground running.  A lot of online marketing training is conceptual;  we strive to keep our training hands-on, so when students bring strategies back to their teams, they’re already familiar with ways they can implement the concepts into actual projects.”

And what’s next for Scott Milrad and the rest of Market Motive?  “You’d think I’d have a chance to relax now, wouldn’t you?” Scott says with a bit of an exhausted, yet energetic smile.  “But it’s right back at it for me.  We’ve got a whole new Master Certification class going through orientation as we speak.  There’s no resting on our laurels around here.”

Market Motive’s new class is, in fact, climbing that hill.  A whole new batch of students are gearing up for Master-class training.  And what’s more, Market Motive has added yet another discipline to its host of certification options.  Social Media training is now available as a curriculum option.  And from the looks of the syllabus, this is going to be another well-received program.  Stay tuned.

Market Motive Announces Certification Scholarships for Non Profits

Market Motive announced today its decision to once again offer one full scholarship to a non profit organization wishing to register for its upcoming Master Certification program beginning June 15.  This is the second straight semester the scholarship has been offered by Market Motive, showing that the scholarship program has met expectations.

Scott Milrad, Director of Online Education, explains the decision to continue the scholarship program.  “It’s simply one of the ways we choose to give back to the community.  We have an opportunity to help the people who help people.  It’s our pleasure to extend the offer.”

Through a series of online streaming training videos, assignments, testing, workshops, projects, and a final faculty panel evaluation, the 90-day program gives individuals, agencies, and companies a chance to ensconce themselves in the world of online marketing–coming out the other side with a comprehensive education in either SEO, Social Media, Web Analytics, or PPC from the top minds in the industry.  Full details of the Master Certification program can be found on the Market Motive website: http://www.marketmotive.com/plans-certification-master.php

If you work at a non profit and would like to apply for the scholarship, please email a brief overview of your company and your role to: scholarships@marketmotive.com

Additionally, as an alternative to the more formal Master program, Market Motive will also offer 10 scholarships to its self-paced Practitioner Certification. Practitioner certification requires similar streaming video training, self-paced assignments, and passing the extensive test.  The Practitioner program covers the same subjects, but lacks the 1:1 faculty and staff interaction and the requirement to turn in assignments or deliver a project in order to graduate.  Details here: http://www.marketmotive.com/plans-certification-practitioner.php

If you work at a non profit and you’re interested in the free Practitioner Certification course, please send a company outline and brief bio to: scholarships@marketmotive.com

We look forward to helping you better serve your community.

Master Certification Final Rapidly Approaching (and now accepting applications for next round in June)

Market Motive announced today the date for the rapidly-approaching Master Certification panel review–currently set for June 9, 2009.  At that time, SEO, PPC, and Web Analytics candidates will answer PhD dissertation defense-style questions from faculty, staff, fellow classmates, former students, and special industry guests on a variety of topics within each discipline.  In a slight variation on the last faculty panel event, each discipline will have its own dedicated time slot for faculty evaluation.   As Scott Milrad, Director of Online Education explains, “this will give candidates and faculty a greater opportunity for evaluation.  The feedback from last time was an enthusiastic request for more of the same.  The people ask…we listen. Now everyone can ask more questions and we can allow for more comprehensive responses.”

One thing is for sure, there will once again be no lack of talent from this group.  Early viewing of some of the projects show that the Market Motive Master Certification is clearly at the forefront of this type of hands-on training.  And the students seem to agree.  Chatter among the Master Certification Twiteratti has been nothing but exciting and enthusiastic.

@MargaretClark:  “Market Motive is such a great program. They really take care of their students. DEF rec to anyone interested in getting certified in SEO.” — June 2009 Master Certification candidate, SEO

@b_young: “I’m taking my SEO Master Certification now…an outstanding program!” — June 2009 Master Certification candidate, SEO

So mark your calendars for June 9 as the next batch of candidates take the stage for another graduation event.

If you wish to participate in the festivities, contact Market Motive directly.

Additionally, Market Motive also announces the start date for the next round of Certification:  June 15.  Applications are still being accepted for the next batch of industry super stars.  For more info or to register, visit http://www.marketmotive.com/plans-certification-master.php

Master Certification Candidates Hard At Work!

Entering into week eight of the Spring 2009 Market Motive Master Certification program, the candidates are heads down and hard at work.  With their initial training complete, they’ve finished their essays and are now diligently building their final projects.  SEO candidates are crafting an actual website from scratch;  Web Analytics candidates are analyzing data from Avinash Kaushik’s own blog as well as the high-trafficked BrainWaves Toys ecommerce site;  and PPC candidates are busy researching the long tail and building paid search campaigns.

All in all, it’s looking as if Market Motive will churn out another top notch class of new online marketing professionals.  And as with every Market Motive graduation event, stay tuned for something new and different.  Market Motive does not disappoint when it comes to its live events.

In other Market Motive news this week, two workshops are on the docket.  On Tuesday, April 28 at 9:00am PT, Greg Jarboe gets on the mic for his much anticipated Twitter workshop.  Charging well past the basics, Greg will discuss the state of Twitter as a business tool, how companies continue to define its marketing possibilities, and how other well known social media applications are on the move to integrate Twitter-based applications into their own.

The Twitter workshop is part of Market Motive’s FREE workshop series, so even if you’re not a member, make sure you sign up for this one.

And on Friday, May 1, at 12:00 PT, SEO faculty chair Todd Malicoat and Jessica Bowman team up to present their SEO Copywriting workshop.  Part art, part science, well-structured copywriting is at the heart of every successful SEO campaign.

If you haven’t already done so, join the Twitteratti with Greg … and make like a modern day Hemingway with Todd and Jessica at the end of the week.

15 Stupid Things Your Staff Can Do to Derail Your Online Marketing … and More Offerings from Market Motive

It’s another busy week at Market Motive where the release of two new training videos, two new courses, and the announcement of two upcoming workshops highlight the docket.

On the new video front, Todd Malicoat—just back from the IM Spring Break search and social marketing conference in Deerfield Creek, Florida—adds an apropos video with the release of “How to Sell Social Media Marketing for In-House SEOs.”

Alongside the traditional faculty video releases, Michael Stebbins and John Marshall join together to film “15 Stupid Things Your Staff Can Do to Derail Your Online Marketing,” the video version of their popular live presentation of the same name from the SMX conference back in February of this year.  For a limited time, this video can be viewed in its entirety FREE on the Market Motive website.

Two new courses also slate the weekly list:  Todd Malicoat’s much-anticipated “Keyword Research for SEO” tops the list, offering SEOs a solid set of tools, tips, and strategies for conducting website keyword research.  The course includes a bonus video:  Malicoat’s “Top 18 Google Search Ranking Factors,” his wildly popular whiteboard video presentation with Rand Fishkin.

Also announced last week is a new course from Market Motive’s PPC faculty, entitled “Bidding for Success,” a comprehensive look at bidding strategies that spans the skill level range from beginner (utilizing Mary Huffman’s “Bidding for Success” training video from her Bumper-to-Bumper beginner series) through advanced bidding formulas from Alan Rimm-Kaufman.  Rarely do we find such a comprehensive range of strategies in the PPC world, so this course is definitely something to check out.

To round out a prolific list of canned content, Market Motive offers two great workshops this week.  On Tuesday, April 14, Mark Evans walks users through an overview of content networks, looking at contextual advertising’s “new look” after an overhaul got rid of fraudulent clicks and irrelevant ad placements.  If this workshop is anything like Evans’ previous calls, there should be some very solid info.

Finally, on Friday, April 17, Bryan Eisenberg gets on the phone to talk about an often-overlooked aspect of landing pages—page copy.  Lost in all the buttons, graphics, and design, page copy is often overlooked.  Join Bryan for what is always an entertaining and informative look at landing pages and conversion.

Market Motive Announces Three New Training Videos and Two New Courses

Market Motive continues to grow its extensive Internet marketing training catalog with a series of new videos and courses last week.  Matt Bailey, Todd Malicoat, and Avinash Kaushik supplied the videos to add to each one’s already impressive library.  And as a side note to what’s becoming a compelling trend at Market Motive, two of the three videos successfully cross over between two disciplines–Malicoat blending SEO with Social Media and Avinash adding PPC campaign measurement into the Web Analytics mix.  As Scott Milrad, Market Motive Director of Online Education, explains, “these cross-over opportunities are a natural extension of our material.  At this point in online marketing, the lines have already been blurred.  Social Media and SEO are connected in multiple ways already…and how do you run a PPC campaign without Analytics measurement?  The cross-over is already there;  we’re just enabling our faculty to venture out and explore those natural combinations.”

New video titles include:

Social Media:  “Blogging for Business, Part 2,” Matt Bailey’s follow-up to his first well-received video on business blogging.
http://www.marketmotive.com/training/tutorials/social-media/blogging-for-business-part-2-matt-bailey.html

In SEO:  “How to Sell Search Marketing for In-House SEOs” is Todd Malicaot’s latest contribution to his own impressive Market Motive library.
http://www.marketmotive.com/training/tutorials/search-engine-optimization/how-to-sell-social-media-marketing-for-in-house-seos-todd-malicoat.html

Finally, Avinash Kaushik contributes another high-quality video with “Paid Search Analytics.”
http://www.marketmotive.com/training/tutorials/web-analytics/paid-search-analytics-avinash-kaushik.html

Market Motive also rolls out two new courses this week to add to their already impressive curriculum.  Matt Bailey and Todd Malicoat come together to create “Site Design & Architecture:  Foundations of Quality SEO,” incorporating Bailey’s “Seach-Friendly Design” analysis and Todd Malicoat’s, “Site Architecture & Taxonomy” training.  Combined with a solid 20-question final test, this course goes a long way to offering a solid foundation for good SEO architecture.

And as another quality addition, Market Motive adds “A Comprehensive Guide to Building Links,” offering SEOs a solid understanding of the link-building  options available to them, including an evaluation of paid link opportunities.  This most certainly fills a much-needed niche in the online marketing world.

All in all, some more great additions to the Market Motive catalog.  And if you’re not already a Market Motive member, you can still tour around the site and see a preview of the new videos and the complete syllabus for the new classes.

Master Certification Graduates Hard at Work

“Once a Market Motive superstar, always a Market Motive superstar.”  That’s kind of our motto around here.  Well, okay, so we’ve never actually said those words, but we’re definitely thinking them!  One thing that’s for sure, our graduates remain part of the Market Motive family, and just as with my Great Uncle Leo and Great Auntie Teddy who sell knock-off designer purses at Florida swap meets, I like to keep track with what’s going on with Market Motive family members.  A number of graduates have gone on to do great things by putting their education to work and I figured I’d give a little update on what’s been going on with them.

Here are some notable news items since graduation:

Ali Alage officially opened the doors to his own Internet marketing consulting company, known as Boost Labs LLC.  “My very first client, a IT Support company, signed on with me on Jan 26, 2009.  With just doing the very basic SEO practices I learned from Market Motive, on March 1st the client notified me that they received 3 leads for IT support contracts from 3 separate companies that found them via Yahoo and Google.  The client was so happy that they are now requesting Online PR services, PPC, Social Media help, and a complete web site redesign to better optimize their site for SEO, which is a big contract early on for a small company like mine (not to mention a lot of work).  I really am grateful for being part of the Master Certification program and everything that Market Motive has provided me.”

See, this is exactly the type of things we like to hear around here.  Excellent work, Ali!

Andres Snitcofsky entered the Biggest Search Geek contest http://www.marinsoftware.com/searchgeek/ and finished 4th, which was a nice little feather in his cap.  Additionally, Andres’ company won the digital campaign of a major political party.

We love the search geeks around here.  They are our people.

Kevin Cobourn has taken his new web analytics knowledge and is currently building a web analytics platform business unit.  “It’s the Wal-Mark of web analytics…low prices, high value,” Kevin jokes.

Uncle Leo and Auntie Teddy would be so proud.

After completing the Certification, Mark Bietz has expanded his roles at Rasmussen College and has also developed a seminar geared towards small business owners on Internet marketing.  Mark has also been implementing information from his Web Analytics certification to better understand the business as a whole and how users interact with his site.

Keep it up, Mark.  You’re all the talk around the Market Motive analytics division water cooler.

Our other graduates, Anne Henegar, Jennifer Day, Kevin Bates, and Armando Zamarripa have been a little more coy about their achievements, but they still remain valuable members of the family.  That’s right, fruit cakes and fake Gucci purses for everyone come holiday time!

Industry Recognizes Internet Marketing Certification Graduates

Next classes start immediately.

Scotts Valley, California (PRWEB) February 19, 2009 - Market Motive is beginning another round of internet marketing certification courses immediately following the recent live graduation event that merged SEO certification with a live American Idol style panel review.

An overflowing group of attendees, faculty, guest panelists, staff, industry onlookers, and the top certification candidates filled Market Motive’s bustling live graduation event. Questions flew fast and furious as the industry elite grilled the candidates, who were obviously well-prepared for the dissertation defense-style onslaught of questions, peer reviews requests, and lightning round quizzes. Surprise appearances by Rand Fishkin, and Jessica Bowman anchored an already star-studded event that featured Bryan Eisenberg, Todd Malicoat, Greg Jarboe, George Michie, Mark Evans, Matt Bailey, and Avinash Kaushik. All told, the event lasted almost two hours and resulted in seven new certified masters of internet marketing.

Graduates Describe Experience, Advise Incoming Freshmen

“The learning path videos teach fundamentals as well as trade ’secrets’ that you will not find published anywhere else. In addition to the videos, every student has open lines of communication with the Dream Team through forums where you can ask Todd about SEO or Avinash about Analytics,” said newly-certified web analytics master Mark Bietz, Online Marketing Manager at Rasmussen College, “To me, the most valuable component was completing projects and receiving feedback on the work that you would typically do as a professional in this space. This makes the course instantly actionable and justifiable.”

Bietz went on to explain, “If you took the fundamental e-marketing books of our time and mixed it in with the content that you get at the big three interactive marketing conferences, it still wouldn’t match the quality or value of this program. The difference is faculty interaction and their desire for students to learn the material. The cost of paying the entire Dream Team a consulting retainer for three months would be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, however, the type of experience you get is comparable, and at a fraction of the cost.”

Online PR graduate Jennifer Day, Senior Solutions Architect at Coremetrics, described her certification experience, “The training went beyond the classic classroom learning. Once we completed the video training and the essay questions, the course work moved into applied hands-on projects. I had to take what I had learned and make it into an actual work product. And there is no slacking on your projects when the top minds in the business are reviewing your work — and the public is invited to your review! Completing the certification was a real challenge and I can’t help but feel proud of getting through such a rigorous program. These programs offer a great opportunity to expand your skills into other areas or increase credibility in your current profession. I highly recommend the program.”

Paid search and web analytics graduate Andres Snitcofsky offered the following three tips to incoming students, “The final project is a lot of work. Try to start as soon as possible, otherwise, you will end up rushing. Second, don’t believe that because you’ve seen a video a month ago, you will remember everything. Try to see them a couple of times and write down what you learn while watching them.” Lastly, Snitcofsky advises, “Use the faculty professors. They are extremely open to questions if you are proactive. One of them even gave me his cell phone and invited to call him in the weekend if I had questions!”

Next Class Begins This Week

Market Motive is accepting final applications for the next round of Master Certification training scheduled to begin February 24, 2009. The 90 day program takes students through a series of comprehensive online, on-demand video courses, live workshops and online tests. Master certification is available for SEO, Paid Search (PPC), Web Analytics, or Online PR. Tuition for the online program is $3500 and all courses, testing and events are held via streaming video or through live conference calls.
