Autism Non-Profit To Benefit From Internet Marketing Training Scholarship

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Market Motive awards free Internet marketing training to students with ties to non-profits.

Scotts Valley, California (PRWeb) April 22, 2010 – Online educator offers free training to students who pledge to use their powers for good.

Market Motive wanted to give back. But true to form as a training provider, it was important to do so in a way that “taught someone to fish”. So the company asked each of their faculty to choose one student to receive a Master Certification scholarship, providing them with free, cutting edge web-based Internet marketing training from industry leaders. This would give the beneficiary the lasting benefit of an enhanced set of marketable skills and a head start in a growing industry.
The catch? The candidates needed to present a proposal, explaining how they would use their new Internet marketing training to help a deserving non-profit organization maximize their online presence and fulfill their charter.

One such scholarship recipient is Evan Hinkle, a web content specialist for the International Association for Life Quality. IALQ.org provides web-based training in Special Needs Life Coaching; their graduates help those with autism and other special needs, and their families, to achieve a fulfilling quality of life. Evan’s goal is to help IALQ reach more online students, and ultimately train more counselors to work with special needs families.

While Evan’s focus will be on IALQ, parent organization TERI (Training Education and Research Institute) is sure to benefit from his new skillset as well. A high-functioning individual diagnosed on the spectrum of autism, Evan plans to one day employ and train other high-functioning adults in online marketing, to provide services for more non-profits. As Evan says, “It’s doing good work, for good people, that do good work.”

Market Motive awarded scholarships to a total of five new students, including Alex Bernardin, Digital Content Manager for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Alex will use his new skills in Web Analytics to guide the ongoing development and efficiency of SFAF’s many online brands.

“We feel so fortunate to be able to provide these great people, and great programs, with the Internet marketing training they need to positively impact the lives of so many,” says Michael Stebbins, co-founder of Market Motive. “Our faculty had a tough time choosing from several hundred applications; they were all worthy in one way or another. We look forward to doing this again next year.”

Market Motive graduates present their final projects to an all-star faculty, incoming students – and you.

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

Market Motive’s first class of 2010 is preparing to graduate… if they can just earn the faculty’s endorsement.

Receiving an Internet Marketing Master Certification from Market Motive requires more from students than just watching streaming videos and passing online quizzes. It also means tackling hands-on projects that reflect the kind of work they’ll do in the real world.

Each semester, students present – and defend – those final projects to an all-star faculty of bestselling authors and speakers in live screen-sharing webinars. This time around, the public is invited to watch as students present projects in SEO, Conversion Optimization, and Social Media.

For folks interested in our next Internet marketing training program starting on April 19th, or just curious about what it is we do, attending the dissertation defense sessions is an opportunity to see just how skilled and professional our students become… and just how demanding our curriculum and world-class faculty truly are. We think people will be impressed.

Current students certainly seem impressed. “The instruction’s been great, the feedback from the instructors has been incredibly helpful,” says Jim Taylor, a Social Media student with Market Motive and principal at Polar Cruises, a purveyor of Antarctic travel tours. “The other thing that’s been incredibly impressive is how absolutely current and up-to-date the content has been. We get on a webinar and we’re talking about stuff that happened two days ago.”

We think that commitment to timely content and instructor involvement is an important part of providing training that has real-world value. We work hard to create an environment that ensures our students get a structured curriculum and real faculty guidance.

And that’s why we’re confident that everyone’s going to do well in this final project defense. But don’t take our word for it… join in on the webinars, and find out  for yourself.

New series of Internet marketing training courses kicks off April 19th

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

It’s hard to believe that 2010’s first Master Certification semester is already over, but it’s true… our first batch of students is about to graduate, and we couldn’t be more proud. For most this was their first Market Motive program, but for a few returning students it was a chance to expand their expertise in a new subject. We’re proud of the commitment and dedication of all of our students… congratulations, guys.

Registration is under way for our next Master Certification courses, which start on April 19th and run 12 weeks. Courses are led by industry experts in Search Engine Optimization, Web Analytics, Pay Per Click Advertising, Social Media or Conversion Optimization.

You’ll have a week to work on each module, which means watching online video lessons, doing exercises or research, and taking quizzes. Then you’ll meet with your faculty for phone-based “office hours” to discuss the week’s work, and ramp up for the next week.

The semester wraps up with a hands-on project, which has to be presented to your faculty for review and sign-off in order to earn certification. It’s a great way to get real-world experience, and a jump start on your working portfolio.

It’s Spring, and time for a fresh start, right? If you’re looking for a new career direction, or already working in the industry and need to hone your skills, take a few minutes to learn more about our Internet marketing training programs. If  you need help with tuition, the Workplace Investment Act has made support available through the EDD in some states.

We welcome questions, and are happy to talk about group plans as well.

States See Value in Providing Training for 21st Century Internet Jobs

California now pays up to $5000 for online certification courses that teach Internet marketing

Scotts Valley, California (PRWeb) April 08, 2010 – How are state employment training programs keeping up with the skills demanded by new technology?

Companies of all sizes do business in one way or another online, and managing that presence is rapidly becoming a specialized – and sought after – profession. The Obama White House even has plans to install a Social Networks Manager to oversee Twitter and Facebook communications.

But are state employment training programs keeping pace with the need?

Recently, in compliance with the Workplace Investment Act (WIA), California’s EDD approved payments up to $5,000 for web-based training programs that teach a variety of Internet marketing skills, from Search Engine Optimization to Social Networking to Copywriting.

Prospective students must get approval from their EDD (unemployment department) counselor, which is usually based on having some marketing background or likelihood of continued employment in marketing.

It’s a big step for states to approve online courses, especially in Internet marketing training, and the timing couldn’t be better. Employer demand for web marketing expertise is growing. Research shows that over 68% of marketing jobs require knowledge of Internet marketing and most grads haven’t been taught these skills. Those that have them have a distinct advantage in the marketplace.

“I have a traditional marketing background, but couldn’t compete with others who had more Internet experience,” says Jeanne Oberstar, a long-time marketing professional. “I printed off job descriptions that demanded Social Media skills, and took them in to the EDD. They really dove into it, and helped me get set up with Market Motive’s web-based classes, which not only saves me gas money but without a doubt is making me more competitive and relevant.”

Today, Silicon Valley’s Market Motive is the primary provider of Internet marketing training for California’s EDD.

“We’ve had a number of students join our web-based Internet marketing certification programs thanks to the WIA and EDD,” says Scott Milrad, Director of Education with Market Motive. “Our students have great success after graduation – some have even been hired before completing the program – and we’re thrilled that the WIA initiative makes our training available so even more people can benefit. We’re happy to be part of the solution for so many job seekers.”

Market Motive’s Internet training has already been approved in other states, including Minnesota.

“The advertising business is changing every day and Market Motive allows me to learn the latest Internet marketing strategies in the evenings, while networking for my next job during the day,” says John Bement, 20-year advertising veteran and Market Motive student studying from Minneapolis. “Because the online courses are taught by industry seminar speakers, I’m able to keep up with the leading Internet marketing trends, receive certification and impress prospective firms.”

A listing of Internet marketing training programs eligible for California’s EDD funding can be found at the EDD site.

Acquisio likes their clients the way they like their employees… trained by Market Motive

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

acquisio logoHere’s a small shout out to a Search Marketing Tools company that believes staff and client education is a top investment. CMO and co-founder Marc Poirier at Acquisio reached out to us and offered to let his clients and prospects know about Market Motive online marketing training courses. Why? Because he believes that a well educated customer is the best long term customer, that’s why. And we think he’s right.

Noran, Marc and BryanAcquisio walks the walk internally, too… Marc also believes that a well educated employee is the best long term employee. And again, we all seem to be in agreement. Marc hired one of our students, Noran Shinnawy, while she was still in our Conversion Optimization program. “[Acquisio] was looking for someone with Conversion expertise, since they were re-doing their website,” she says. “I was recommended to them as a Market Motive student. Since we were studying real companies, websites, and clients, they recognized that as current, relevant experience and education.”

Noran was also tapped as a Conversion Site Clinic panelist at SES New York on the recommendation of Market Motive Conversion faculty chair Bryan Eisenberg, just following her graduation, an experience she says was “amazing and fun”. [above, Noran with Bryan Eisenberg and Acquisio’s Marc Poirier]

Of course, it’s no secret that Market Motive Graduates have an almost unfair advantage in the work marketplace. But as Noran says, the very fact that she was currently IN our Master Certification course was a big plus in her hiring process.

Acquisio will soon be  gracing Market Motive with another student - They’ll be sending MJ Lepage to join us for training during our Spring quarter.

Marc’s commitment to education and training is inspiring and is a testament to the quality of Acquisio and their PPC management tools.

And we thought that deserved a little ink.
