Problems Playing Videos

If you're having trouble watching training videos check these three details.

  1. Are you logged in to Market Motive?
  2. Force reload the video
  3. Maybe you need to clear the browser cache.

1. Are you logged in?

It's easy to know if you're logged in. Look at the upper night corner of the website.

If you're not logged in, you see boxes where you type your username and password
If you are logged in you see your username and a 'logout' button.

2. Force reload the video page/popup

The next item to check is whether force-reloading the video works. Most videos play within a popup window, so you need to first get this popup to the front of the set of windows (click into the black border around the video itself to make sure it's at the front). On the keyboard, type Ctrl-F5. This forces a complete page reload, which does more than click the 'reload' icon on the browser toolbar.

3. Clear the browser cache

Finally, it's possible a corrupted version of a video has been loaded and now sits in the browser cache. This can cause the video to always fail until the browser quits or the cache is cleared. A quick solution is clearing the browser cache:

Clearing the cache in IE8

Clearing the cache In Firefox

Clearing the cache in IE8

Select 'internet option' from the 'Tools' menu

Click the 'Delete...' button in the 'Browsing History' section. You'll get a chance to specify what to delete in the next window.
Make sure only 'Temporary Internet Files' is checked when you click 'Delete'

Clearing the cache in FireFox

Click the 'Options' menu within 'Tools'
The cache in Firefox is pretty small, so consider increasing it to 200Mb or more. Then click 'Clear Now' and then 'OK'

Upgrade / Downgrade My Account

Click on the 'My Account' tab in the top navigation.

Under 'Account Details', click on the link that reads 'My Subscription & payments'.

At the top of the 'overview' tab is a summary of the current plan. Inside this box, click the 'cancel' link. This cancels both your subscription and the automatic payments. Ignore the 'cancel' button(s) in green below this box. They are simple mailto: links that are used only if the link doesn't work.

Once you see the 'subscription result: Cancelled!' screen, click 'help->My Subscription & payments' again.

A new green box appears at the bottom of the screen with an 'upgrade/renew' button. Click this and select the plan you want to upgrade/downgrade to.

You'll then be prompted to accept terms and conditions and then enter payment details again (for security reasons we don't keep these on file)
