FAQS

Yes. Online marketing changes fast; that's why we stream our very latest video lessons off our server. All of our courses are web-based, and include on-demand streaming videos, regular live webinars, 24x7 Q&A forums, quizzes, assignments, and more.

When you're in the Self-paced online marketing course, you'll set your own schedule and work at your own pace, following a structured online curriculum of streaming videos, pdf workbooks and recommended exercises. You'll take progress quizzes along the way to ensure you're retaining the information, and you'll have to pass a final test before you can download your Certificate of Completion. Faculty support is available through an online forum.

If you take on the challenge of a coached Master Certification Course, you'll study the same structured curriculum, but follow a strict weekly schedule over 90 days, progressing at the same pace as your fellow students. Plus, you'll receive personalized faculty guidance, with feedback on your homework exercises during weekly conference calls. Finally, you'll need to complete a rigorous real-world final project with faculty and peer reviews, and have to pass a dissertation defense to earn a Master Certification.

Great question. The number of video hours vary by course, and you'll want to watch, pause, and review some videos once or twice. Plus, there are workbooks to review and fill out, and recommended exercises. Add to that the time to take quizzes, and any extra real-world application you want to do to test what you're learning, and you'll be pretty busy.

Self-paced members probably spend a total of 25-35 hours to complete a single Certification course. Since they study at their own speed as their schedule allows, how long that takes depends on how many hours you've got to dedicate to your studies each day or week. A few members have earned a Certification in a single month. On average, most have busy lives, and take about 10 weeks at 2-3 hours a week.

In the 90 Day Coached course, your curriculum is metered out in weekly assignments over the semester. The weekly study time estimate is the same: but you'll also receive personalized feedback directly from the faculty on your weekly exercises, so there's a chance you might want to redo some work to apply their insights. Additionally, there are weekly required "live class" conference calls for you and your course-mates to talk directly with your faculty… it's a great chance to build a rapport with your fellow students, and get direct interaction with instructors. Add to that the final real-world project that makes up the last third of the calendar, and the Coached course is definitely the more time-intensive and challenging (but some say more rewarding) option. Plan on spending 5-7 hours per week, more when you're working on your final project.

Of course! The baseline pricing is for individual users; discounts from that baseline are a sliding scale based on team size, length of commitment, and other considerations.

We've created team pricing plans for groups of three to thousands. We can build one for you.

Yes. With your manager's dashboard, you can assign (and re-assign) specific courses, lessons, exercises, and quizzes to each member of your team.

For large teams, we can even develop custom paths and collections.

Our training is designed to get first-time marketers up to speed and productive quickly (it's an awesome onboarding tool!) and higher level courses are challenging even for experienced marketers.

We consistently hear that the courses are both more difficult than expected, and fast-tracking productivity of new hires.

"The most measurable thing for me is that people are finding it to be much harder than they though it would be… they're getting more out of it… it's expanding them." – Sean Kainec, Head of SEO & Senior Manager, Home Depot

We'd love to! We have systems and assessment tools to help define current skill levels, and set appropriate training paths and goals, for each team member, so you have a custom plan for implementation and measurement.

We have student success advocates who can help you keep learners motivated and on track.

And we've worked with loads of groups with lots of different internal requirements, so we've seen the best practices that lead to success.

No. Our system is designed to track the progress and success of the individual learners; sharing a single account with multiple users means you can't track individual progress through the courses, and thus can't track the commitment of your team to their training. That means you can't measure the ROI of your training investment.

Sharing a single account is also in violation of our Terms of Service.

We partner with higher education institutions, training organizations, and professional associations who have an existing commitment to training as a core business offering; and who have an installed audience for whom training is an identified desire.

You may be a prospective Market Motive partner if:

  • You are an accredited college, university, or other educational institution.
  • You are a professional organization or association that provides training to active members.
  • Education is a core competency of your business.
  • You have the resources to actively manage and administer an education program.

If you think you qualify, contact us!

In a word, no. Not everybody certifies, not even in the Coached courses. Our courses are challenging even for experienced marketers. Besides, if you could just buy a Certification, it wouldn't really have any value.

But if you have a desire to learn, take the time to watch the video lessons carefully, take good notes, and rewatch videos when necessary to assure you're absorbing the materials, you'll do well. Experienced or not.

We know Certification is no substitute for years of real-world industry experience. But whether you're just getting started in online marketing, or you're already working in the field, Certification can provide valuable professional validation.

If you're new to the industry, getting caught up on a decade's worth of industry evolution and learning the latest in bleeding edge techniques from a respected source is an invaluable start.

If you're an experienced online marketer, Certification still holds value. Just like attending conferences, trade shows and seminars, earning Certification from a reputable provider demonstrates your commitment to continued education in industry trends and best practices, and ongoing professional development.

Many Market Motive Certification Courses are recognized by OMCP® as preparatory for OMCP Certification. (does not apply to short courses)

Many places offer programs and courses, but ultimately you should look to the expertise of the faculty when seeking out your education. Our faculty members are the proven leaders, keynote speakers, and bestselling authors in their particular disciplines. Faculty at other institutions likely learned from, and are teaching from, the publications and presentations of our esteemed faculty.

When you research online marketing training programs, look for the following things:

Are the teachers visible and active in the industry or have they simply learned the material from other experts?

Does the training program offer comprehensive cross-discipline training in all aspects of online marketing or are they just offering one subject? It is critical at this stage that one studies more than one discipline (e.g. SEO and Conversion Optimization or Social Media, Social Media and Analytics, PPC and Conversion Optimization just to name a few combos).

There's more to know. We've got a great comparison worksheet you can use to help find the right provider.

You can buy either a single course or Foundation Pass or Expert Pass.

Some of our licensing partners do offer discrete access to specific courses. If that's what's best for you, we'll point you in their direction.

Sure! Give us a call, email us, or contact us through the form. Our learning plan specialists excel at helping folks just like you figure out the best plan to achieve your training goals.

Yep. If you're a monthly/annual member, you can cancel whenever you're ready. You'll maintain access till the end of your billing period. Plus, monthly members and Coached students can get a full refund any time during the first 7 days after joining.

But really, is quitting what you want to do?

We recommend starting with the Foundation course. It's a great primer that will get you familiar with each of the core disciplines.

If you're already well-versed in one discipline, choose a complementary skill that will enhance your ability to serve your clients and your company.

Our system does its best to automatically meter the video quality to suit your connection speed at all times.

If you'd like to default your videos to a lower bitrate to accommodate consistently poor connections, enter your profile (top right of your dashboard) and select the low bitrate stream.

On a mobile device, your player includes an HD / SD selector. Choose SD for poor connections.

We like to keep faculty interaction inside the Market Motive ecosystem. Use the faculty moderated forums to post questions about curriculum, projects, videos, anything that's got you wondering.

If you're a coached student, you've got a required weekly "Live Class" conference call to get one-on-one interaction.

We do recommend you visit the faculty page and follow the faculty on their personal Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and G+ profiles.

We can’t promise that. But we’re confident in saying that if your employer or clients value working with marketers who invest in professional development, training with Market Motive is an asset.

Our graduates have seen a great deal of success in their jobs and in their lives. Not only is the training and material extremely current with regards to what companies are looking for (which is, in truth, the most important thing), but students have reported back to us that they are increasing sales; landing new clients; increasing on-site engagement; improving search results and click-throughs; bringing valuable skill sets in-house; successfully transitioning careers; and landing jobs and partnerships. Visit the testimonials page to learn more.

And if success stories are your thing, check out these ten graduate bios in our "Where Are They Now" article.
